I had an amazing stay at Oki's Inn in Kyoto. the architecture of the inn is beautiful and clean, and the location is fabulous. Despite being on a shopping arcade, it was surprisingly quiet. the street where the inn is located is filled with residences and local shops, giving it an authentic and non-touristy feel. It's a small pedestrian street with easy access to the main thoroughfare via bus and subway. the futons were super comfortable, and I slept deeply every night. the owners of the inn were incredibly nice and spoke excellent English. I especially appreciated the private garden and the ability to wake up to the sunrise with the screens open. Cons: All was perfect. 😊.

The traditional charm and historical beauty of this place is truly captivating. The owners have done a great job of preserving the historical elements while still keeping it clean and comfortable. The shared kitchen and eating area was a great spot to relax and enjoy meals. The peaceful zen garden outside added to the tranquil atmosphere. The owners were both friendly and helpful, and their English was good. The location couldn't be better, right next to the metro station and in a unique shopping street. It was also within walking distance of temples and shops.
One thing to note is that the bathroom facilities are located outside the main building, which can be inconvenient, especially during the cold weather. The facilities themselves were clean and well-maintained, but it was a bit bracing to go outside in the middle of the night.

We had an incredible stay at a traditional Japanese home with a beautiful zen garden. The owners took great pride in maintaining its historical beauty while providing all the amenities we needed. The shared kitchen and eating area were perfect for relaxing and enjoying our meals. The location was ideal, as it was right beside the metro station and within walking distance of many tourist attractions. The hosts were friendly, helpful, and fluent in English, providing us with valuable information about Japanese cooking, culture, and sightseeing. We also loved the option of renting bikes, allowing us to explore the city easily.
Nothing not to like.

As low-budget travelers, we loved the affordable price, friendly staff, and spacious, clean, and warm rooms at this charming inn. the location, just a quick turn down a small covered street from the subway, was perfect for exploring Kyoto's best spots. the hosts, Taka and Yuka, spoke fluent English and provided great advice on Japanese cooking, culture, and must-visit places.
Felt really good, no complaints at all.

The place was really cute, recently renovated and well designed. I loved the small heater in the bathroom - it was so nice to step out of the shower and not freeze! the staff were also amazing, giving us great tips on what to see and where to eat. And the location was perfect, just a few minutes' walk from the metro and close to all the sights.
The cold floor in the washroom. I went during spring/summer, so I can't imagine how cold it would be in autumn or winter.

They had a fridge and kettle in the lounge, so I could pretend I was in my own rich person's cafeteria, sipping tea and feeling superior. So posh.
Oh, the horror! They expected me to use the shared bathrooms like a commoner.

The location of this property is unreal! It's smack in the middle of the market area with so many shops and restaurants, yet it's surprisingly peaceful at night. Plus, all the main attractions are within walking distance! Super convenient! The cleanliness of this place blew my mind! It was spotless and way beyond my expectations. The staff, a lovely English-speaking couple, were incredibly kind and helped me with everything. They even let me check in early and relax in the air-conditioned lounge. The cherry on top? The rental bikes they offer are a game-changer! I got to explore all of Kyoto effortlessly. I truly can't wait to go back!

The value for money at this Inn was just incredible. The room was spacious and had a cozy, traditional Japanese vibe. The location was perfect, away from the crowds but still within walking distance of tourist attractions. The staff treated us like family, making us feel welcome and at home throughout our stay.
The menu for breakfast could have been more diverse.
Tourists from South Africa often stay at these properties. Ideas for your future trips.
